The 3 ball and the Stephen Curry

When you think of the three point shot in the NBA who do you think of? Reggie Miller? Larry Bird? Klay Thompson? Those are definetly some of the main three point shooters in NBA history, but who we all think of first is Steph Curry. He is the face of the three and has been for a while now. Back in 2015 he changed the game in one of the most extreme ways ever.

In the 2000 season teams only averaged 13.7 thress takes per game. Today teams average 33.9 threes a game and the three has become just as big of a shot as a layup. Obviously Steph has not been in the leauge that long but I will go further into that. Teams just look at the three as less of a high risk low reward shot so coachs have their players put up more threes.

I would say 2014 is when Steph Curry really started being a superstar in this leauge. So lets look at this, from 2000 to 2005 the amount of three pointers per game went up by just 2.1 per game. From 2014 to 2019, the same amount of time, the amount went up by 11.5 per game because of the pure success of the warriors and their three point shooters.

Curry has been the most influential player on the game in the last decade and maybe longer than that. His three pointer has changes basketball, whether for the better or not, and will continue to change the game further into the future. Some have even said there should be a new record book because of how much he changed the game. Curry is the best shooter of all time and I don't believe there is an argument against it.
